Behavior Services

Our Behavior Services help individuals build essential life skills and increase independence.  Our team provides personalized, evidence-based support. From young adult transition planning to behavior assessments and assistive technology, we tailor our services to each individual’s needs.

Functional Behavior Assessments

We conduct comprehensive functional behavior assessments that identify the environmental factors that make challenging behavior more likely to occur, as well as the reinforcing consequences that cause challenging behavior to persist. At the completion of the FBA, our Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) can develop a function based intervention plan, as well as recommend adaptive behaviors to strengthen skill repertoires.

Individual Skill-Based Assessment

Circle Haven offers comprehensive individualized skill based assessments using a variety of evidence based curricula. Through observations and direct testing of various functional skills, our clinical team will put together a detailed written report. The written report will include recommendations for skill acquisition programs for programming both in school and transition services.

Clinical Consultations

Our expert clinicians will consult with you about your child’s current clinical programming. Consults will include a review of all relevant documents and records, a discussion with you, and an observation of your child. At the conclusion of the consult, the team will provide you with recommendations regarding your child’s current clinical programming.

Young Adult Transition Services

Through detailed assessment, our clinical team will identify strengths and skill deficits using evidence based curricula. The focus of these assessments will be on necessary skills needed across various life domains including self-care, vocational, leisure, self-management, communication, and home-chore skills.

Assistive Technology Provider

​Circle Haven is now a DDD-approved Assistive Technology Provider. Our clinical team is able to assess individuals with communication impairments and provide
data-based recommendations for appropriate assistive technology. Evaluations
include analyzing preferences, fluency, and communication modalities, followed by tailored recommendations and caregiver training.

Our Team

Dr. Samantha Volpe, BCBA-D

Our Clinical Director, Dr. Samantha Volpe, BCBA-D, is a professional with extensive experience with adults with autism. Dr. Volpe is a former clinical director of campus and community based autism programs and is currently the Coordinator of Curriculum Development and Online Instruction at Endicott College where she delivers instruction in the Master’s of Applied Behavior Analysis Programs. In addition to her BCBA-D she holds a Special Education teaching certificate, Level II.

Gregory Wright

Gregory Wright is a Behavior Specialist who joined Circle Haven in January 2025. Gregory holds a Master’s in Special Education (Applied Behavior Analysis) from Arizona State University. He has extensive experience in behavior assessment, intervention, and inclusion programs. At Circle Haven, Gregory supervises DSPs, trains staff and parents, and assists with assessments and treatment planning. His passion for empowering individuals drives his commitment to providing effective, evidence-based support.

Jillian McDermott

Jillian McDermott is a Behavior Specialist who joined Circle Haven in October 2024. ​Previously, Jillian worked as a Special Education teacher in NYC (District 75) serving children ages 10-21 with moderate to severe disabilities for over a decade. Now after making a career change, Jillian applies her prior professional experience as a Special Education teacher to improve the quality of life for clients. Jillian graduated with her masters degree in Applied Behavior Analysis in 2024. Her focus areas including supporting adults with autism in completing activities of daily living and training for vocational opportunities . She is particularly interested in the reduction of challenging behavior through increasing functional communication.
